Self Defense for Women

Part 2 - Confidence

Use confident body language

In order to avoid being seen as a potential victim, it is important to project a strong, confident body language. Hold your head up when you walk down the street and walk with a sense of purpose. Be alert to what is happening around you.

Breathe steadily if there is an encounter

In the event of an encounter with an assailant, it is useful to inhale and exhale deeply so as avoid the tendency to freeze. Breathing steadily will help you to focus. A woman has to quickly make an assessment of the situation and decide upon a strategy. If she has thought about what she is going to do/say in a situation like this before it happens, so much the better. But she will have to decide what to do based on her circumstances and the person/persons confronting her.
